SWFL’s Biggest Bash: Fort Myers Downtown Countdown 2009

Southwest Florida partygoers greeted the New Year with fireworks, live bands, balloons, champagne toasts, dancing in the streets, ball drops and more than a few kisses.

In the downtown Fort Myers River District, thousands packed the closed-off streets to take part in SWFL’s illuminated ball drop, complete with the release of a thousand neon green balloons courtesy of swflBars.com. In Naples, residents gathered on the beach for a spectacular fireworks display, then carried the party to 3rd Street to ring in 2009. A crowd of 1,000 gathered at Cape Harbour in Cape Coral to greet the new year with their own version of a fireworks display, ball drop and entertainment by the band A-200.
